2010 – 2015, the Hasenmanufakturwas the home of 1000 Hasen.
HASENMANUFAKTUR HAMBURG
More than a studio, it became the centre of the project: a place where paintings, drawings, films, books, exhibitions and collaborations came together. Here, the landmark series 1000 Hasen reached completion, while new bodies of work—including the Schützenfest (Shooting Festival) paintings—expanded its artistic universe.
The Hasenmanufaktur (Hare Manufactory) was also an exhibition space. Visitors experienced the work where it was created, while artists, musicians, actors, writers and television crews from Germany and abroad became part of its ongoing story. Every year, the traditional Wildessen (Game Dinner) brought together guests from different disciplines, continuing the dialogue between art, culture and everyday life.
The building itself became part of the work. Documented in films and exhibitions, it shaped the identity of the project for fifteen years. Following its demolition, the closure of the Hare Manufactory marked the completion of the place where the one thousand original hares had come into being.
